First thing in the morning on the last Saturday of April 2024, I had an appointment with Sharron. She is an exceptional professional; her extensive knowledge, talent and experience are unmatchable. Thanks to Sharron, my hair is wonderful and, I am very happy with it. The salon is clean, neat, and stylish. I fully recommend this salon, because I felt every time when I went there, that the service was of first class, meaning that for them customers always come first.

I had my hair permed today at Blake and Butler and the whole service was just amazing. I came in for an initial consultation a few weeks ago (prior to my appointment) and Sharron was very honest and informative. She was so incredibly accommodating, kind and professional during my actual appointment today as well. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much!

Amy gave me lovely greeting . I liked her soonest when I saw her at the beautiful entrance. She did precisely divide my hair by twisting hair for some parts and good and neat scissors work with her nice conversation. I showed her how I would like to be that pictures on my phone and I became what I was looking for many years. The way she did was very similar to my Japanese hair salon in Japan and I was so pleased I can get this here, therefore I have not often satisfied hair salon in York before except one of nice mobile beautician used to come to my house 12 years ago but she is no longer doing that business as she has other business. So I have been doing self cut my hair for four years since I come back here York but I couldn't handle anymore my back of hair length. So I went to see Amy today on Valentine day 2024 to treat myself. I will be back again. She is very honest about my questions about my hair rather try to make more money out. She was very honest lady and I like people like that. I certainly will visit again. Thank you so much Amy. You are gorgeous and have nice hair I am envy your hair volume as I lost as gets older. I am taking this hair style you made to home soon and show my relatives and take a lots of photos of Japan with my new hair style. Xxxxx

This is another review for this amazing salon! I cannot emphasise enough how fantastic the hairdressers at Blake & Butler are, especially Sharron (Style Director) who has now been my hairdresser for years, following a long and disheartening search for a hairdresser who could not only do the job right, but did it for me (the customer), with everything considered and taken care of. I would also like to feedback on Amy (hair stylist) who is one of the sweetest and another brilliant & caring hairdresser - I hear and see it with customers and it really shows what this salon is all about - with the most professional, knowledgeable, considering and skilled hairdressers/stylists you will ever have the privilege to meet. No matter how far I have to travel, this is the salon to be at in this part of the world :)

After abandoning my hair for over 3 years Amy has completely brought it back to life. Not only has she done an amazing job she also made me feel so relaxed and at ease. She will talk you through the whole process, and give you the best possible outcome! Highly recommend if you need some you time, free coffee and magazines and great conversation! My hair went from long dark brown to short platinum blonde which takes a lot of time, skill and knowledge and Sharon's is second to none! I've been going to Blake and Butler for hair cuts and colour for around 10 months now and have been to Sharon and Andy. They're both incredibly talented and I could not recommend them enough!! I can be a bit of a diva when it comes to my hair (!) and they both took their time and listened to exactly what I wanted. Even if my ideas are bordering on the ridiculous, both Sharon and Andy are very honest and know how to make my ideas workable. I have blonde ombré that requires time and patience to perfect (not just slap on some bleach and hope for the best) and I trust Sharon and Andy to do it perfectly. The salon and products used are gorgeous, the massage chairs in the basins are bliss and everyone working there is friendly and welcoming. It is a very relaxing environment and I always look forward to my next visit. They often have a selection of lovely Elemis products in at the desk, and 9 times out of 10, I end up walking out with a pot of something or another, as well as my recently lush locks! I know that many Blake and Butler clients travel from all areas of the country and further to have Sharon or Andy tend to their hair, which says a hell of a lot. Both Sharon and Andy also worked in top London salons before opening Blake and Butler, and you can really tell! Thank you both for always taking such care of my hair. Xx

It is worth the journey to have my hair cut and coloured by somebody who knows exactly what they are doing and really cares about the results. When you find a good stylist that you like, you're happy to 'go the distance' to stay with them. I'm more than happy to travel from Manchester for Andy to look after my hair. I love the colour and cut and always get great compliments about my hair afterwards. I never feel 'rushed' like you can feel in some salons, and I always know that I get full attention when I'm there. The salon is lovely, it's friendly and welcoming and always a pleasant experience. Quality Aveda products used in beautiful surroundings and the hair wash with massaging chairs was bliss! Most important was the cut, colour and finish from Andy - a very talented and experienced professional who works hard to give the best. Cutting standards and finishing at this Salon are spot on . So many complacent Salons in York churning out nothing out of the ordinary but this salon delivers ! ! Sharon cares and has the talent and expertise to actually listen ,to what you are aiming for as a valued customer . I struggled as a makeup artist and stylist of over 25 years experience in advertising film and editorial to find a salon with my high standards in york but this one meets them . After years of trying different salons none of which achieved the results I wanted , I have finally got the results I wanted , sharon knew exactly what colour I wanted to achieve , with a lovely cut too . I don't usual write reviews but I Visited this salon after various recommendations and was not disappointed , I usually have my hair done in London as I hadn't found a salon in York that I liked but I was in dyer need of of a change The salon managed squeeze me in at short notice . They managed to make me feel totally pampered and a new cut/ colour that revivals the best places in London ( that are about five times the price- it's well worth the train fair) I have recommended the salon to all of my friends and can't wait to see what the girls suggest next time .

Blake & Butler is a fabulous hair salon housed in a gorgeous Georgian building, I was immediately made to feel very welcome & relaxed, they made lots of helpful suggestions not only on the colour & style but also on maintenance & different ways to wear my hair to create different looks. I was delighted with both the colour by Jodie & the cut with Sharon, I will definitely be going back & have no hesitation in recommending the salon to others.
